Hot Hits Radio Report
Hot Hits is a contemporary hit radio station and has a target audience of teens and young adults. We have a young audience because of the fact we are a contemporary hit radio; our listeners are into mainstream music. Their interests include social networking, such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Because of this, we will meet the listeners needs by letting them get involved using these different networks.
In our podcast, we discussed some of the latest tracks that our listeners might be interested in. We done this because we want to bring out new music and new sounds to our audience. We then mentioned the return of the show 'The Voice' as it related to our competition. The reason for having a competition in our podcast is to get the listeners involved and have a chance to win prizes. Our competition involves our own version of The Voice. Listeners will ring in to the radio station and have the chance to win 4 tickets to The Voice 2013 finals.
Having a competition is a strength of our radio in comparison to threats such as Capital FM. Although the appropriate music genre is alternative pop (because it will satisfy our listeners needs and will appeal to the specific age range), we will play a range of music in the duration of the day to gain a wider audience and have different features and techniques in comparison to other radio stations that may be a threat to Hot Hits Radio.
The weakness of our radio podcast is the quality of the editing. We had different soundtracks and sfx's that we planned to use but didn't actually put them into our podcast. However, in our script we mentioned what they were and when they would be played.
During our presentation, we showed the clips of a few people singing for the competition, their reaction showed that it was very successful with our audience as they enjoyed it.
